Summer Archery Camp
July 13, 14, 16, 17, 20, and 21
6-8 pm each evening
The Eastside Archery Summer Camp is designed for the beginning archer (primarily students who will be 6th grade – or older – in the 2015-16 school year) with little or no previous archery experience. The camp is led by Eastside’s head archery coach Sean Link and assistant coach Jim Morsey, who are certified archery instructors with the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP).
The camp provides participants with instruction in the basics of archery skills, including instruction on safety, equipment identification, and proper form. Each participant will complete a simple exercise to determine eye dominance and will then be introduced to a String Bow to learn the first steps of how to hold a bow, aim, and release. Participants will then be introduced to properly shooting the Genesis Original Bow using the 9-Step NASP process and whistle commands. Instruction will focus on fundamental techniques of archery and range safety requirements, procedures and equipment.
These beginning archery sessions will give the new archer the foundation necessary to properly execute an archery shot with consistent accuracy. Sessions will focus on safety, basic techniques and drills, and may include games to help keep the learning process fun.
All equipment is provided, though participants can bring their own Genesis Original bow if they wish.
Participants must wear closed toe shoes. A signed liability waiver is required. Registration fee: $25
